Retrocomputing
It is not true that enjoyement lies
only in the amount of megahertz, gigabyte or megapixel. That is why RetroEuskal
is back in Euskal Encounter; to fill it with the most retro, obsolete and
old fashioned in the computer world. Come to the RetroEuskal area in Bexitec
and take up this fascinating liking.
These are the activities for this
year’s edition:
- Gametrack: 8 and16 bit computers which never stopped evolution thanks
to the users’ communities. If you met them then come to enjoy them
again, and if you don’t happen to have ever had one of them meet them
now and have a game. All the party round in the Retroeuskal stand.
- Museum: This year we will pay homage to the man who 25 years ago got computers
massively into homes.The museum in RetroEuskal’07 will be entirely
dedicated to Sir Clive Sinclair and his huge work. Saturday 21st, Sunday
22nd and Monday 23rd, in the Retroeuskal stand.
- Workshops and talks: Whether you are a retrocomputing amateur or you are
just taking up this activity, RetroEuskal organises workshops and talks
that might interest you.
- “The morgue" (reparation workshop): If your elderly toy is
worn out, or it needs mending but you never thought you would be able to
do it, you were pulmb wrong. Take your old 8 bit computer and any tools
you have and we will help you fix it or improve its features with the latest
hardware. All the party round in the Retroeuskal stand.
- Conference: A knowledge and debate area on retrocomputing. This year we
will have a talk directly related to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, which we
consider to be an astonishingly interesting subject for every user. Saturday
21st at 7.00 p.m. in the Euskal Encounter lecture room.
- Retrolympics: Are you the best at killing Martians? Is there no rival
for you at skill proofs? And what if we propose you even more difficult
ones? Would you dare? If you wish to have a good time these are the olympic
games you are looking for. No matter you are a retromaniac or not. Sunday
22nd at 4.00 p.m. in the Retroeuskal stand.
- 8 bit computers’ demo competition: Every new edition RetroEuskal
brings you the latest in current demoscene for 8 bit computers. This year
we will have the first demo competition for 8 bit. Art and technical challenge
- "The 8 bit time": The demoescene will be on the main screen
as well as other retrocomputing related videos. Sunday 22nd at night after
the scene Demos.
- Interplatform brotherhood lunch: It is great coming to the Euskal Encounter,
but it is even better to sit around a table with people sharing your very
liking. Come with us to this traditional lunch where only having a good
time is compulsory. Saturday 21st at 9.00 p.m. Inscription at the Retroeuskal
stand.

Sinclair ZX Spectrum: 25th anniversary
On 23rd April 1982 the Sinclair
ZX Spectrum, a computer which changed history for many european homes, was
born. 25 years later in July 2007 RetroEuskal will pay tribute to the man
who created such a computer: Sir Clive Sinclair. If the rainbow computer was
also important for you, you cannot possibly miss this anniversary. Saturday
21st around midnight the short film "La puerta de Sinclair" will
be on screen.
